Home Screen:

Bugs:
Search bar UI (thought it was the case because I was using iPad version on Mac but, it exists on my Android too, image in next page)
When any subject is clicked, the search bar gets that Subject name but no change occurs in the screen, ideally it should show results for the same.
Back (Android OS back button) doesn’t work in search screen, we need to touch Explore to go back to home screen.
Settings icon that appeared on RHS of search bar misbehaves, currently is not visible.
App not optimised for devices with punch hole camera cut out, see the header section in the screenshot below.

Improvements:
I am assuming that we want the kids to use Quizizz regardless of the teacher asking them to study or complete a task:
Current flow wherein the user has to open the app and select a subject or assignment and then get onto doing it has a lot of friction.
It’s similar to when we had to study in school, the task of opening a book and sitting to do the assignment was tedious, but when we were in the problem we were hooked and we would go late for dinner.
How about a Surprise me kind of a section over here? This section would load an interesting lecture or even an assignment left midway.
Here the friction would be limited to user just opening the App (that too would be facilitated through Notifications)
Bonus: It would be even better if we write an algorithm that analyzes the student’s performance via Reports and show up things that they were weak in. Additionally, if the user is doing good in almost all subjects then they can be showed lectures that dive deeper in the subject (maybe an upper standard lecture) because they would be interested in it.

Footer Menu Bar:
Intent: Quick access to most used tabs.
Context: Most apps these days have started removing the Account option from there. Why? Because Accounts tab is something that is used only once in a while not regularly.
Twitter, Zomato, Swiggy all of them have a small user profile icon on top right, the way Quizizz has on top left and the Account tab can be accessed through that.
Amazon still has the Account tab in the footer because, checking your past order or status of ordered items is facilitated through that, but there is no such use case here.
Removing Accounts, the space can be utilized to add the Surprise Me (let’s find a better name maybe) in the centre with a big round circle that extends out of the boundary like Paytm QR scanner.

Subjects View (screenshot below):
This view looks like an open source Learning Management System (like the one we had in college during covid: Moodle.org)
Look at each tile, most of them don’t have images and even if they do the image is 40% of the tile. To make the tile more attention grabbing, I propose to make the images occupy 70% of the tile and the image should be self explanatory of the topic, they way Physics is represented as e=mc² in Subjects.

Improvements Overall:
I want to share an incident of my mom, she wants to learn English but any course we got her, she’s just not interested to overcome the initial friction. Welcome: DuoLingo, this changed everything, you complete some assignments and you get some points. Now she’s motivated to complete the assignments just to beat the high score. The same gamification idea can be implemented for Quizizz.
